WWE star The Rock shares a story of how Tupac’s song ‘All Eyez on Me’ almost got him fired early in his career. He delivers a message to always be yourself
Always play chess when everybody else is playing checkers, always play the long game! All Eyez on Me!
WWE and Hollywood star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took to social media yesterday, December 5th, to reveal an interesting insight into his early days in the wrestling game and talks about how Tupac’s ‘All Eyez on Me’ almost got him fired!
The Rock was working out at the time when ‘Pac’s song ‘All Eyez on Me’ came on. He took time out to pay homage to Tupac and tells his fans to always be themselves no matter what.
Speaking last night about a match early on in his career, The Rock said; “All Eyez on Me was my ring music. After the match the promoter came to me & was like “Dee, you can’t use this music! Theirs kid’s out there, theirs a lot of motherfucka’s in the song and N words”, I was like well I’m sorry to tell, I gotta’ be me, I have integrity and if I go out there then this is my ring music!”
After hearing this very bold and true to character statement from the young wrestler, the promoter threatened to fire him but realising that kids were in the audience, The Rock switched the song to the clean version.
He added “I found the radio version of ‘All Eyez on Me’ kept my integrity. The bottom line is always be you, always play chess when everybody else is playing checkers, always play the long game! All Eyez on Me!”
