Tupac Shocks The People 22 Years Ago
22 years ago, on February 28th 1996, Tupac attended the 38th Annual Grammy Awards, which were held at the Shrine Auditorium, in Los Angeles.
There was a surprise for the spectating audience as Tupac was joined on stage by the legendary rock band KISS, as they presented the award of “Best Pop Performance by a Duo”. This was KISS’s first public appearance reunited with the original members which sparked the group to tour again in the Alive/Worldwide tour of 1996/1997.
Tupac was accompanied by Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight and fellow artists Snoop Dogg and MC Hammer. Although he had numerous Grammy nominations, Tupac never won a Grammy. With plenty of hits and platinum albums he still didn’t win one. Some of his nominations were for songs “Dear Mama” and “Changes”.
Albums nominated include “All Eyez On Me” and “Me Against The World”. Tupac did present an award along side Kiss in the 1996 Grammys.
