New Tupac Documentary Produced By His Aunt
It was reported last year that a deal had been reached between Estate Trustee Tom Whalley and Amaru Entertainment for a new full length documentary about Tupac Shakur. Steve McQueen will direct the documentary while Tupac’s Aunt and Outlawz member Kastro’s mother Gloriz Cox will executive produce the documentary.
Nigel Sinclair’s White Horse Pictures Jeaane Elfant Festa and Jayson Jackson will also produce the documentary. Nigel Sinclair is well known for producing the The Beatles: Eight Days A Week–The Touring Years. While director McQueen won best picture for 12 years A Slave.
In a statement Steve McQueen had this to say about the opportunity, “I am extremely moved and excited to be exploring the life and times of this legendary artist. I attended NYU film school in 1993 and can remember the unfolding hip-hop world and mine overlapping with Tupac’s through a mutual friend in a small way. Few, if any shined brighter than Tupac Shakur. I look forward to working closely with his family to tell the unvarnished story of this talented man.”
Earlier this month we examined the possibilities of new Tupac music being released.
