On this day 25 years ago Tupac released the music video for the classic song ‘Holler If Ya Hear Me’.

The video was shot in black and white. The song’s content is all about raising up against the injustice of police brutality and poverty. The director of the video, Stephen Ashley Blake, revealed that the set was tense due to the message of the song. The song is from Tupac’s second solo album ‘Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.’

Stephen Ashley Blake speaking on making the video “There was one sequence where he pulled a gun out on an officer. Originally, the way I shot that, he killed the cop and his badge fell down in slow motion. The record company was nervous over that. They had me cut that scene out. I actually re-edited the scene to make it look like he didn’t kill the cop.”
