Amazon Headquarters Finalists
Amazon Headquarter Coming To A City Near You?
City bidding wars are nothing far from unusal. We see it with the NFL for the Super Bowl. Heck even World Wrestling Entertainment has turned their Wrestlemania brand into an annual bidding war.
In this case Amazon, itself has created a bidding war back in September 2017. The mega giant who Prime services increased 22 percent in spending this pass holiday season, narrowed its finalist to an elite twenty. 238 cities made their case.
Some of these finalists consist of New York, New Jersey, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas, Nashville and Austin Texas.
With good reason this bidding war is taken seriously by its bidders. An increase of 50,000 high-paying jobs easily the new headquater would create for the winning city.
Amazon’s head of economic development, Ms. Sullivan said in a statement, “Getting from 238 to 20 was very tough. All the proposals showed tremendous enthusiasm and creativity.”
Some of those hard decisions came from proposals such as the one New Jeresy claimed a 7 billion tax incentives if Amazon were to select Newark as the winner. Atlanta’s mayor, Kasim Reed, said the city of Stonecrest in Georgia would consider renaming it to “Amazon” if selected.
Other cities such as Los Angeles and Miami have kept their proposals a secret.
These are the 20 finalists:
Atlanta, Austin Texas, Boston, Chicago, Columbus Ohio, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Nashville Tennessee, Miami, Montgomery County Maryland, Washington, New York, New Jersey, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Raleigh North Carolina, Philadelphia and North Virginia.
